Mark Howard retires from the Office of Emergency Management

Mark Howard, retired early this month after 37 years with the city. He has been our group’s primary liason with the Seattle Office of Emergency Management for the past 5+ years. Moreso, he’s been a great mentor to our citywide Hub Captains (“Hub Caps”) leadership team and an incredible advocate for the emergency communication hubs concept.

His earlier work with the city includes many other noteworthy programs, such as establishing Drug Free Zones around schools and the management of the Seattle Block Watch program during the time when it was considered a model program for other cities.

The Formidable Footprint exercise on March 31st ended with a retirement celebration for Mark; it included cake, plenty of well-wishes and an engraved hub cap from our Hub Cap group (shown in the photo below).

We will sure miss working with him and wish him all the best!
