If you missed the Great Washington Shake Out this morning, note the following e-Brief that we just received from FEMA:
It’s Not Too Late to ShakeOut!
Today at 10:17 a.m. millions of people around the globe participated in the world’s largest annual earthquake preparedness drill called The Great ShakeOut. Over 18 million people registered to “Drop, Cover, and Hold On,” including individuals, organizations and businesses in 37 states, five territories and the District of Columbia. ShakeOut was organized to help your community prepare for and recover from an earthquake, to encourage you to update emergency plans and supplies, and to secure your space in order to prevent damage and injuries during disaster.
We hope you were able to participate in this official ShakeOut event! If you missed today’s drill – you still have time! Visit Shakeout.org to learn how to participate and register your family or organization. Just remember to hold your drill by October 31 and continue to follow @PrepareAthon for all things disaster preparedness.
